Mandalas: The Art of Sacred Wholeness

Not long ago, I was blessed to witness something truly magical – a group of Catholic school children had gathered on the beach, each one creating delicate, intricate mandalas in the sand.  As the sea breeze danced across their patterns and sunlight kissed each curve and spiral, I was struck by the ancient wisdom pouring through those young hands.  It felt like the earth herself was being gently healed by the art.

The word Mandala means “circle” in Sanskrit.  But a mandala is far more than just a shape – it is a symbol of wholeness, harmony and the infinite nature of the soul.  Mandalas have appeared throughout history and across many spiritual traditions  – from the Tibetan monks to Native American medicine wheels, from stained-glass windows in cathedrals to Aboriginal dot paintings.  Each one speaks a silent language of the divine.

At its core, a mandala is a mirror of the universe – and of ourselves.  Its symmetrical patterns reflect the balance found in nature: the petals of a flower, the ripple of a seashell, the orbit of planets.  When we create or gaze upon a mandala, we are gently drawn inward -into stillness, into presence, into the sacred center of our being.

Many people use mandala for meditation, healing or self discovery.  Colouring a mandala, for example, can be an intuitive and calming practice – each colour chosen is a message from the soul.  Drawing one from scratch can become a form of prayer or inner revelation.   Even simply visualizing a mandala can bring clarity, peace and alignment.

As a psychic medium, I often sense spirit communicating to me through symbols –  and the mandala is one of the most profound.  It reminds us that even when life feels scattered and broken, the deeper truth is this: everything is connected.  There is a divine design and we are part of it.

So if you’re feeling called to reconnect with your spirit, to find your center, or to calm the swirling energies of the world around you – consider working with mandalas.  You might draw one in the sand like those beautiful children did, or begin colouring one at home as a gentle ritual of light.

Let the circle guide you home.

If you feel drawn to explore your spiritual journey further, I invite you to book a private session with me.  I would be honored to connect with your energy and help you to receive the loving guidance spirit has for you.
